The water is so clear with lots of algae and plants.  ;) smile.gif I haven't change any water at all. LOL The rain, the sun, the live plant and the algae do all their job. smile.gif Oh, inside got snails too.

No Idea Vicki :whistling: How about some fly mesh over the top? I was thinking about that photo today as I noticed most of the fish in the clamshell are th same size. *If* they were all brought up in there together, they are all around the same size. Quite different then what I get if kept in a large tank together with lots of water changes!! *ponders*

I did some checking -- according to the Tropical Wetlands Management Authority, 'toadpoles' are toxic to fish that eat them :scared: A mesh cover would probably do the job, but would eliminate any chance of mozzie larvae as a food source. Darn!

Right there with you, Robert! I haven't seen any canetoads yet (despite a few visits to Brissie), and I don't want to see any, thank you very much. Canberra's so cold, I'm hoping they won't want to come here... Netting over the pond to keep out the birds would be a good idea. I put a net over my vegies, otherwise those :D cockatoos attack them, the rotten hoodlums. I think if I had an outdoor pond for my bettas, the wild ducks would quickly take it over. Last year a pair of ducks tried to claim my horse's water trough as their pond; they turned the water green in a day. Sue
