  6. You could try when they are ready, or when the weather is stormy as that seems to help :cheer:
  7. Well done! I am still constantly amazed by the quality of Bettas these days in LFS. However, they don't seem to make it over to Adelaide. :cheer:
  8. This has made my day! They look fantastic and gee they grow fast!!! Well done :giggle:
  9. It will dilute it if you dosed before the water change. Usually, I would dose daily for a week for adults or older fry. However being that they are young fry and may be stressed by the disease so perhaps dose them tomorrow. With dosing, you want the catch them before they encrust themselves and when they come back out looking for a host. Others may have more info on this as it was so long ago since I treated fry for ich I cannot remember. Jess
  10. Cheeky! was not even in the poll I voted for cichlids Hang on! I vote for a South American biotope :)
  11. Any of the grasses & other carpeting plants and you can just trim at your desired height. You'll need to maintain it regularly which ever way you go. :)
  12. Looking great Are they just beautiful fish? Bender, Nothos prefer alkaline water, not acidic like other species. There also do well in some salt too. I use marine salt to help buffer the water and keeps it stable and I boil the peat before I use it which helps it less likely to drop the pH.
  13. He is really really unique. I would be happy breeding for these colours and patterns over form!
  14. Aren't they beautiful! I have a few pairs of rachovii from Doug myself! Tease away ;)

    Tips

Moving it last would be the best idea. If you could even put the gravel into buckets once you empty the tank and take tank straight there and put gravel back and fill it straight away and then move fish and filter that would almost be a 100% water change and would hardly affect the biological system providing it was done very quickly, you wouldn't need to run air stones etc. Guess it depends on the day or how structured you want it to be.

    Tips

I have often pulled tanks down in the day and sometimes it is 8 or so hours before setting them up again. I use about 10 buckets for the gravel and fish and air stones are everywhere! Siphon your gravel clean, and place in buckets. I'd pop the plants in plastic bags wrapped in wet newspaper, make sure you close it so it is airtight. Put the filter or filter media in a esky w/ lid with the same water as the tank and run an air stone at old place. Will be fine in esky for ages providing it has water movement. Transport it in an esky with water (it is only 3km) to new place and run airstone until your ready to place it back in the tank. This will give you some hours grace as you will be busy with other things!! Bag fish and transport in eskies too. Can get foam boxes from your greengrocer. You could dismantle the tank the night before, if you did that you'd want to wash your gravel thoroughly as you'd have more die off and can be toxic. Once the tank is set up at new place with gravel and water, just add everything else. Good luck!
  17. :) Thanks guys P.S why does it say I'm 31? I was born in 1988 :D

    Kribensis

I went on holidays a few years ago and came back to dead fish in the tank.. only to find my pair and about 40 fry in the tank. They were gorgeous. I had an orange strain, can't remember what they were called. Yay, for krib babies! That is a nice size brood too, won't be a lot of effort having to raise them to a good size opposed to a large spawn!

    Lfs Boy

WOW! great score there!! Were the females latching to him? If so, run back as fast as you can and grab a girly!
  20. Aquariums in Oz aren't designed or designed with HOB filters. You need to either custom make the tank or cut the lid to fit.
  21. You can always sell to the LFS if you don't want to house them when they need to be jarred. For sure, will let you know if I find anything down at Fish Palais. Though we'll see how the weather goes by Thursday, I nearly died when I was out driving before
  22. A cambo girl? lucky thing! I am in the NE suburbs (Golden Grove) and only go to those around here. I am thinking about driving down to Fish Palais on down Port way later on this week. That shops usually has a fair bit of odd balls and always get good Betta finds. I will call them up and see when their shipment comes in. Their isn't any serious breeders that I know of in Adelaide lately They come and go. I know JL has heating cord under the small tanks and it is wedged in between the foam that they sit on. That could work.
