Jess
It's getting to the point where I need a large (200-300L) tub outside where I can age water! Has anyone got an idea of what to use or not to use? (i.e toxic plastics) I will need to get a pump to pump into the tanks too. I won't be heating it as it will be warm enough until next winter if I time the WC's in late afternoons. I think Handsfree has something similiar working. Figure_8
I've used those storage tubs (with the wheels) for spawning tanks many times & they are food safe, so I'd imagine they would be ideal.
Jess
Thought about that but I think I need something bigger and deeper for a pump though.
Figure_8
I've seen some pretty big ones.. 200L+... Next time I go to where the sell the really large ones I'll take note
Chuckie
whatever you use, see if you can cover it somehow or you could end up with dragonfly nymphs in the tank (I found out the hard way ).
Robbies Betta
Super Cheap Autos usually have sum massive big tubs that would suit. I'm pretty sure they're food safe, cause as much as I can recall they were sorta big cooler things (bout $50 tho )
stubbskm
I have plastic barrels that hold approx 180L. They were once used for bulk storage of liquid detergent. But I must say that they had been sitting empty for at least 18 months out in the weather and filled with water a lot before I got them. My parents were using them to roll the kids down the hill in their back yard.
Jess
Cool. Might look at Super Cheap Autos. I want barrels, must be barrels! $50 is a bit steep though :cheer:
marc
Faewyn you should pop into your local produce agency or irrigation shop and enquire about a replacement tank for a tractor boom spray unit .these can come in small to extra large and have a screw top lid as well ..They are heavey duty plastic and should be easily plumbed in via holes to suit a submersible pump unit ... they may be a tad expensive though... Em
Just make sure they've had a REALLY good clean out as most of them have had olives in them as well as vinegar and some sort of vegetable related oil. My mum uses them to store rainwater for her orchids
