Roquen Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 This is all I could come up with, with what I had available to me. Any suggestions on a catfish for my algae eating requirements - its a 320 tank - so not too small and not too big! :-)
Chuckie Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Hey, I really like that! I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to catfish. Otocinclus (sp?) are peaceful and do a decent job in my tanks.
Callatya Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 That looks AWESOME! I love green plants with black/white And that planter is just perfect!
Richard Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 One common bristlenose should be able to clean the tank well. :)
Leela Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Wow, that's looks great! Excellent theme :)
Callatya Posted January 28, 2006 Report Posted January 28, 2006 Oh der! didn't see you asked about catfishies I'd go a pair/trio of otos or if you are after bottom feeders, maybe kuhlies?
splendidbetta Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Cool! Great effect that you've created What are those plants called?
Roquen Posted January 29, 2006 Author Report Posted January 29, 2006 Thanks for the feedback everyone! I sat there staring at the bloody tank for hours and after all that its kinda simple, but Im happy with it! The plants are java fern in various stages of growth - all originally calla's java fern I might add :-)
Jess Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 Thanks for the feedback everyone! I sat there staring at the bloody tank for hours <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I do this all the time!!! It's dreadful isn't it. The tank looks great I like the pharaoh, looks great!!
Figure_8 Posted January 29, 2006 Report Posted January 29, 2006 That looks fab! lovely colour combination.
KillieOrCory Posted January 30, 2006 Report Posted January 30, 2006 Looks great Just a side note though; java fern does not like it so well if their roots are burried in the gravel. Hope you won't have difficulty. But if the plants start to do not as well that would be why. Sometimes just leaving some of the roots out the gravel is all that is needed.
Callatya Posted January 30, 2006 Report Posted January 30, 2006 Around here? Probably AquaMart at Prospect? I haven't been there yet, but their main store at Parra often has them. I'll keep an eye out
Roquen Posted January 31, 2006 Author Report Posted January 31, 2006 thanks ab! re the java fern, have always done it like that with no probs so far, will see how it goes!
Chuckie Posted January 31, 2006 Report Posted January 31, 2006 as long as the whole rhizome isn't buried the Java Fern should be fine. It doesn't actually have "roots", the things that look like roots are really just for catching onto surfaces (eg logs, rocks) and growing there. Kind of like a staghorn!
Phil Posted February 8, 2006 Report Posted February 8, 2006 So how does the new fishy look in there?
