PinkFishy
Guys, My brother is off to the States this week and naturally I'll be wanting him to bring back some purchases including aquatic supplies not found here. Now the bane of my life is heating very small tanks during winter - about 8ltr size. I found this and before I go order a few of them - do we have them here? http://www.petdiscounters.com/customer/som...&cat=988&page=1 These people also sell a brine shrimp corral that looks irresistable Found under: PETdiscounters.com :: Aquarium Supplies :: Featured & Unusual Products Lis
Figure_8
the only problem I can see with the heater is the plug. Isn't the Australian standard one different to the American? Maybe you need an adapter or something? that brine shrimp corral looks fantastic! That would definitely be no1 on my shopping list!!
Callatya
Walmart also have a JR heater which might be worth looking at. Palm filters are also something fun and they are hard to get over here (Boronia had them for a little while i think) And get him to bring you back a Betta Sharkerz empty it first though, customs might not like it. :P
Jess
Not to mention you need convertors to run most electrical appliances. I had a stereo and a printer hooked up to silly convertors for years. major PITA Whatever you get, check it out power supplier meter thingy first. Callatya
USA is 220v we are 240v, you will require a converter plug.
Bren MacFish
The problem I see is there's no thermostat. It just chugs away outputting the same amount of heat all the time. Which would be okay I suppose if you have a house that doesn't vary much and a good thermometer. Age of Aquariums promised to have a super tiny heater listed in their range at the end of this week. I don't know what model it will be tho, but at least it will come in the right voltage with the right plug.

Mpearce
Can't recall the brand or exact measurements (v.v. small), Age of aquariums were getting mini 25w heaters, I was told by staff for $10. Bargain :balloons:
Mpearce
Forgot to add, a lot of the time with american plugs I need a plug adaptor and a voltage adaptor, 2 plugs, PITA (Adds quite a bit of cost also)
Fishchick
USA voltage is 110 to 120 and 60 Htz Unlikely you'll get anything to work. AOA has Aquapro heaters - not terribly reliable, but cheap enough to be disposable. Cheers, J
VickiPS
Nathura and Scuba 25w heaters are both small enough for 8 litre tanks.
