  1. How did this go guys? Lots of interest and enthusiasm? Cheers, J
  2. The next shipment from Thailand is due the week of 17th June. Please finalise all Aquabid/private purchases and forward a list and payment ASAP. We will continue to do private imports. However, payment for importing and local shipping must be received before the fish are shipped. A list of all fish and seller details must be received 10 days before shipment. We will no longer hold fish. As soon as they clear quarantine they will be shipped. Please ensure you are able to receive your stock. Best regards, someone
  3. Nice photographic work, colours are great. I usually don't comment on some of the odd things/lies/slander/fabrications etc I see written about me, but this is so bizarre I have to say something. Personally, I very much doubt the bettas have been imported from Germany. It seems an odd thing to do when the world's biggest producer of bettas (Thailand) is a lot closer, and a lot cheaper. However, it may be that the importer in question gets some of the HM stock from the German supplier when they order in other fish. The German supplier brings in the Bettas from Thailand, so your boys have racked up more frequent flier miles than most people! We don't buy bettas from Germany. We purchase directly from the breeders in Thailand. Much bigger range, much better quality stock. And, we know the genetics. On very rare occasions we will try bettas from wholesalers. Usually we sell the HM males are Superdeltas, as they are not of the standard of the HM we bring in from Thailand. Some do make HM and are labelled as such. It would be interesting to see your males in full flare. I cannot work out why your LFS would spin you such a story. We bring in 99% of our own betta stock. Not sure how your LFS could get "first dibs" when we don't buy bettas from Germany. I think they are just talking themselves up by dropping our name!! Good luck with your boys, I'm sure they will have a happy home. Cheers, someone

  12. Some info from Victoria http://bettysplendens.com/articles/page.imp?articleid=2985 We are going to set up one of the original stands with 2 x 2L and 4L glass tanks for the wild pairs. Small, agressive pairs like smaragdina can be housed in 2 x 2L, whereas compatible pairs like channoides can be housed in a 4L tank. Big, mouthbrooding pairs can be housed in 2 x 4L tanks. Tanks will have floating ketapang leaves and floating plants to keep the fish comfortable. Please let the Show Chair, ie me, know ASAP if you intend to enter wilds so we can arrange enough tanks. It is common in Area 6 for competitors to purchase fish for shows. The show scene in Area 6 is quite different to that of Area 1. (let's face it how many people who show horses, dogs, cats etc have actually bred that animal?) Realistically though, we really need to get a the local scene up and running. Betta clubs cannot rely on overseas competitors. The logistics of importing stock for a show is, quite frankly, horrendous. Cheers, someone
