Site upgrade finished

Hi Guys,

As you know we upgraded the forums, We waited until most were in bed last night, although most of you were up at 2am! LOL! Anyhow, the upgrade did not go smoothly, hence the site being down most of the day (We did try to keep it restored as long as possible, so no one missed out!)

We now have moved over to Invision Power Board. The most important data was transferred smoothly, Although we have some small issues with the following:

Avatars: they may appear strange, to fix this just re link them again :)

Emotes: Since the migration, most have been lost in posts. You wil see the code for them (PITA) From now on they will appear in each post from now on.

Linked images: for those images that have been linked from photobucket etc. We have edited some posts to make them reappear, but it may take time to do all of them! We would very be grateful if you edit you own posts and re link them. (you just press "edit" your post then "submit" and they work again! ;)

We have implemented limitations on some forums for members (Time frame/ post counts etc. ) Please be patient, and you will eventually gain access!

Last but not least, we are still playing around with settings etc, please be a little patient, it should be all good from now on ;)

If you are having trouble with anything or need help etc. Please ask us :)

Lets have fun at last :);) :)

Good job, guys! I got a bit confused this morning when I coulnd't log in, then I could, then I couldn't again, but it's all good :)

Regarding the limitations, are we allowed to know what they are ie. how long til we're kosher? I was all set to post some pics of a new imbellis pair, but find I can't post to the Totally Wild forum any more ;) Oh, and I see I'm back to being Ol' Blue Eyes again, after a brief promotion to Threadfin Rainbow :)

Yes, 30 is the magic number. once your post count hits 30 you should gain access to the forums that you cannot currently access. This is, of course, 30 FISH POSTS, not 30 "nice to meet you" posts :)) because otherwise we'd have a whole bunch of very over-friendly members! :D) Quality posts, not quantity! Lets make this a good resource :D The only forums that may be out of bounds are 2 specialist forums and the coffee shop. If after 30 posts you do not have access, please let us know.

Please don't think I'm being too picky (well, I suppose I am, really), but I notice there is at least one new member who has access to the Totally Wild forum with less than 30 posts.

Fair enough that some specialist areas have some restrictions placed on them, and you want the forums to be a "quality resource", but I can see this becoming a bit of a Catch-22 when the resources are only available to the people who can post there. A bit like the annual meeting of the Expert Mountain Climbers club, held on the summit of Mt Everest -- if you can get to the meeting, you're a member :)

We have a sneaky noo! :) I will get Mousie to have a looksies, the poor dear nearly had a melt down setting all the permissions last night. Your right, its not fair on members to have access and some don''t when it's not their time yet. Thanks Vicki :)

As of late last night, there is an auto feature that will grant you access to the specialist forums & lounge when you hit 30 posts. I had to set all the current members permissions manually though, so if you feel like you should have access and you don't, please PM me. Please also be aware that there are a handful of members that joined us as betta-testers before the forum went public. These people kindly allowed us to use them as guinea-pigs (for which we are very grateful) & have had their post counts re-set a few times over which may account for the discrepancy noticed.

The automatic feature should stop all future discrepencies here with who goes where and when. Before we were doing the entire permissions manually in order to avoid people attempting to access the usergroup function. There was a slight communication error as to what forums would be out of bounds, and that is where the problem lay. We all *thought* we knew what had been decided, but it turns out we were a little off. The error was in the big squishy organic thing behind the keyboard :) Now, we feel that yanking away the permissions at this point would be rather rude, considering it was our mistake that allowed the incorrect settings. We also feel that granting everyone access is likely to make the problem worse for anyone who joins after this point. So, although it suddently feels like a 2 teired system (which was certainly not what we were aiming for) we are just going to soldier on through it. Most people aren't too far off 30 at the moment anyway, so you should all click over shortly.

Thanks for the background info, ladies. Sorry to be a picky bee-arch, and I rilly RILLY do understand that this has been a giant undertaking to set up and tweak. :) I think it's a great forum. Guess I just let my frustration get the betta of me (haha). Cheers! :)
