Fletch
As most of you would be aware, I have been putting a lot of effort into growing healthy plants lately. While I have been happy with my success (?), I just got a reality check. When I rescaped my tank, I chose the best of the weed i had and put the rest in a 20ltr bucket in the yard. Forgot all about it. Redid my spawn tank and was looking for some Java Fern. Checked the bucket and it looks BETTER than the stuff in my tank. what the?. Can't tell you how much this has taken the wind out of my sails. :-(
kermadum
Easy... Just move your planted tank out to the backyard and forget about it.
Sarah
Ahhh, this has happened to me, too... I say it's the natural Sun and stuff and go along my way, muttering.
shadoh
Just swap them over mate. Nobody needs to know they didn't get that way in the tank. :D
melbournebetta
painful but true - my display and breeder tanks are all full of *nice* plants - but then the junk tank in the sunroom (in the grow out) is getting natural light and sprawling. shadoh
Might have to keep a tub in the backyard to throw my trimmings into... THanks for the inspiration mate Could be a nice little sideline for Brisbane Bettas in the off season
Sarah
Funny thing also... I had Java Moss outside, it was lush green when I put it there - and then turned yellow. Put it into the tank, has turned green again.
shadoh
I've am now in the habit of putting yellowing Java Moss in a jar on the kitchen window sill until it greens up. Takes 3-4 days.
Fletch
That's one thing I still kill. In every tank. It just doesn't like me. :-(
Matt_95
Lol Jarrod you won't make much in the off season they pretty much stop growing in winter, mine also go well in indirect sunlight, you have to make sure it's not to strong otherwise the plants are driven to use more CO2 than is available. I grow a few emerges rotala outdoors, they grow much better than if I try them emerges under lights.Don't worry Paul, I still kill it too.
shadoh
*lol* Fish won't breed, plants won't grow... might have to come out of my cave and get a life during the off season. Either that or hibernate for the winter... yeah! HIBERNATE!!!!!
