Phil
Hello Yesterday i bought my first big koi's from a fish hatchery near me. There were tonnes to choose from but these 2 stood out to me. Phil
I got the orange one because he looks like a tiger there was another black orange marble but he didnt look as unique as this one The White one is actually 100 times better in real life, just dosent show up as nice in pictures. You are right robbie, goldfish have nothing on koi :)

Phil
Thanks Mango This is my other koi. I have 2 exactly the same colour. These 2 were part of 12 small 4cm koi that i put into the pond about 2 years ago and were the only 2 to survive, must be a strong colour lol. You can see the mouth of the other one at the top

Jess
Cool Koi, westie I noticed I only see Koi in funny angles! Why is that?? It's like the dreaded dropsy angle shot. I cannot honestly tell you what they look like side on ^_^
Robbies Betta
I think that's the appeal of them, they have to look good from the top cause they're pond fish.... right??? ^_^
Mango4Jade
Yep Koi are mainly looked from the top. But, I dont mind having them on side view too.
Chuckie
I don't like the side view, it's not as clean and torpedo-like as the top view. The patterns are selected to be viewed from above.

Phil
Nick had 3 koi that were in need of a new home so i was very grateful to get them (THANKS NICK!!) These 2 (Orange and red/white) are about 30cm: This one is about 20cm but the pattern is different and really looks good in the pond: And a random koi pic:
NICK1960
That's great Phil, I think they will like their new home better than their old one :D
Mango4Jade
Looks great Phil! The Orange with White Pec fins is a aka hajiro [hajiro means fish with white pec fins] The White with red head, mouth is unfortunately a Kohaku, but if the red spot on the tail tube isnt there then its an interesting Tancho But still a very nice fish! The scaleless koi is a Doitsu Ki Matsuba. Doitsu meaning scales, Ki is yellow and Matsuba is Pine cone pattern on scales. A very attactive specimen and wont mind it in my pond Hope you like them all cause i like em too! Mango :D
Robbies Betta
OMG that yellow one looks like a dinosaur :D looks like bones for a dorsal, very cool looking Phil (and good choice in fish Nick ) and the random shot is the reason I love koi so much. they look awesome stupid SA laws :D
