steph Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 Hi, my name is Steph. I live in Nerang on the Gold Coast, I have only just become interested in Bettas, and as I was told in the beginning they are addictive. I hope to start breeding them in the future so any tips, pointers or advice, in any way, shape or form would be very greatly appreciated, also if anyone knows where to get some really good breeding stock, could they please let me know. I also enjoy the odd quiet time on my horse, and reading, although I haven't had the time to sit down with a good book lately.
Figure_8 Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 Hi Steph There is lots of good breeding stock around either locally or from O/S depending on what you are after. The classified section might be a good place to have a browse or even put up a WTB if you're after something specific. Whoever told you bettas are addictive.. knew exactly what they were talking about! :P
Fishchick Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 hey Steph, another Queenslander!! Cheers, J
Chuckie Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 Hi Steph, nice to meet you. Tell us more about your horse! We have a few horsey members (horsey in a good way, LOL). what are you after in terms of breeding stock? HM, plakat, CT, VT? Any particular colours you're after? :goodo:
najrick Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 Hi Steph, Nice to meet you. And welcome. Najina and Pat

steph Posted December 28, 2005 Author Report Posted December 28, 2005 Hi Steph, welcome to Ausaqua! There are some wonderful breeders around to get fish from and also Aussiebettas is good for imported pairs <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome, in regards to what sort of Betta breeding stock I am looking for, well I'm new to these wonderful little fish, so any suggestions on where to start would be most welcome :goodo:
Chuckie Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 plakats are easy and colourful, and will also have some predictability in terms of outcome that VTs lack.
steph Posted December 28, 2005 Author Report Posted December 28, 2005 Thanks for the tip, by the way my pony's name is Max and he is my sanity in this crazy world, pure arab, 16 years young, 15.2hh, chestnut and the biggest baby you could imagine, but I wouldn't swap him for the world :goodo:
Chuckie Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 OOH! He sounds lovely, my old mare is 25, arab/ASH, chestnut. She is a cow but I love her anyway! She was very sick earlier this winter but she's doing great now. I also have a TB/ASH dark bay gelding, Nero, and a TB/QH palomino mare.
steph Posted December 28, 2005 Author Report Posted December 28, 2005 Couldn't cope with more than one Equine baby, anyway Maxy would not allow it (very jealous). Too many other non- human kids and three human ones.
charntelle Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 Hi Steph. Welcome aboard! Good to see another Queenslander here, as well as another "horsey" person. I have a QH mare that I campdraft, and about 200 bettas. No time for anything else!! Hope you enjoy it here. :goodo:
Chuckie Posted December 28, 2005 Report Posted December 28, 2005 my daughter seems to be the one that ends up riding all my horses! all are out of commission atm. Prin has an arthritic back, nero was allergic to Swift and has sores, and Rosa is still being broken in.
Robbies Betta Posted December 29, 2005 Report Posted December 29, 2005 Hey there Steph, welcome I wish I could have a horse, then maybe I'd learn how to ride :)
Bettabegood Posted January 4, 2006 Report Posted January 4, 2006 Welcome Steph, it's good to have yet another equine addict on board! Sue
