Peter16
I went into a pet shop today and noticed they had your regular standard comets in a tank with guppies and platies. I saw the heater set at 28 C. I didnt think you could do this, I always thought they would get cooked. What are your thoughts ?
lpiasente
Can be done, I have seen them in discus tanks at 32. It speeds up their metabolism makes them grow really fast and also shortens their lifespan. That's what I am told anyway.
Marianne
My goldfish in the garden pond have been living in about 28-30 degrees all summer. They're fine a breeding like rabbits. It's a myth that goldfish are coldwater fish, they are eurythermal, which means they can live in any temp between 0 to 41. Coldwater fish can't live in tropical temps, they won't be happy and in a lot of cases they will die.

Bettarazzi
Goldfish are very popular in Asia. They breed a lot of goldfish in Singapore which sits right on the equator.
darennkj
I think Marianne is right about goldfish being eurythermal. I've had goldfish in warmer conditions and they do just fine. As long as the water temp changes slowly and not drastically they'll be ok.
