Betta_Endeavours
Okay so the fins on my Royal blue DT HM are getting worse and I need to stop his chewing. So I figured I'd trim the affected areas up and do a big water change and all. Are there any guides/articles or any help on how to trim fins because I have no idea what to do. Any help would be great thanks :D
Callatya
I can post pictures and walk you through it, but can you run be through everything you have tried first There are some things that you can do that are less drastic but still have good effects. Trimming it off won't stop him chewing it unless you chop it right back out of reach, and that is just asking for trouble as it is way too close to the body. Bettarazzi
I tried trimming once and found it quite upsetting really. I'd rather just live with the ragged fins.
y2jdaze
the only reason I'd ever trim fins is if there was a bad case of finrot that I couldn't treat. I agree chopping his fins isn't going to stop him chewing.
Betta_Endeavours
Can he still spawn with his fins damaged? As for treatment - Melafix and trying to keep his container clean is about it since I haven't had fin chewers before
Chuckie
yes, he can spawn with damaged fins. In fact most do, as they are damaged by the female prior to spawning. Try some salt too.
Bettarazzi
And the female doesn't care about the condition of his fins either. She just cares about his big.... well, you know.... his big bubblenest...
