y2jdaze
I noticed one of my spawn tanks was low on temp and discovered my Heater looing like this... I know it's broken beyond repair but can anyone tell me what went wrong so I can try to avoid it next time?
Phil
Looks as tho the seal has leaked at the top. It seems that after a while all heaters seem to get abit of condesation in them. Also probably depends on the quality of the units. I bought some $15 heaters and altho they didnt leak, they did heat the water to over 34*C no matter what the temp was set at. The one i have in my big tank now was something like $59 or something and has been working really well. I usually buy cheap heaters for other uses cause i always forget to unplug them when the water level is reduced and always crack them!
Bettarazzi
I see condensation in my heaters all the time. Is that definitely an indication that the seal is broken?
Callatya
unsure, presumably it would have to be as they don't come with moisture on the inside, but I've had ones with condensation keep on trucking for yonks. It has seriously fried, to me it looks like it has overheated and cooked itself, possibly by being partially out of the water? (happens often in spawning tanks, especially if the heaters are horizontally mounted.)
