Lilly
Apologies if this is a silly question! I've only now just realised that you don't see crowntails with dragon scaling. Do they exist? Is this purely because nobody has ever tried to achieve it, or is it not genetically possible for some particular reason? If you were to put a Crowntail to a Dragon Halfmoon, you would not have dragon scaling, and you'd only have combe-tails (maybe?). Then if you chose the female from that spawn with the most ray reduction (or is it extension?) and put her back to dad, you'd have dragons? (iknownothingatall) But would there be any evidence of comb tail in the fry from daughter x father? Now that I type it out it sounds as though it would take a long, LONG time to achieve. Or perhaps it's not even possible? I don't know, call me silly- I just thought it was worth an ask. :D Edited June 28, 2012 by Lilly
CNgo2006
They are around and therefore do exist...I have seen some around. Do a quick google search.
Lilly
This sort of thing was the closest I could find in google images. I looked them up on aquabid, too- nothing on there. Perhaps they're just really uncommon? Thanks, Chi. Just curious. :)
CNgo2006
No problems Lilly, there are no such things as silly questions just people who are afraid to ask. There are lots on google images just google dragon crowntail. for eg. http://www.google.com.au/imgres?q=dragon+crowntail&start=137&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1280&bih=707&tbm=isch&tbnid=I3a1B26VcDeJ0M:&imgrefurl=http://www.bettafish.com/showthread.php%3Ft%3D85206%26page%3D4&docid=yEJK-iz565tE2M&imgurl=http://www.bettafish.com/attachment.php%253Fattachmentid%253D44829%2526stc%253D1%2526d%253D1325623806&w=639&h=483&ei=Yy3sT626He6YiAfd8PDKBQ&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=410&sig=105936966928822218083&page=8&tbnh=166&tbnw=220&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:16,s:137,i:187&tx=98&ty=72 or http://www.google.com.au/imgres?q=dragon+crowntail&start=137&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1280&bih=707&tbm=isch&tbnid=_d3nh9xP4J0niM:&imgrefurl=http://www.flickr.com/photos/minhkyoshiro/page4/&docid=y7HX0_x-gu1j8M&imgurl=http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2718/4327382973_9a8b44db60_m.jpg&w=240&h=162&ei=Yy3sT626He6YiAfd8PDKBQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=858&vpy=84&dur=2736&hovh=129&hovw=192&tx=85&ty=63&sig=105936966928822218083&page=8&tbnh=129&tbnw=192&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:8,s:137,i:161 or http://www.google.com.au/imgres?q=dragon+crowntail&start=117&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1280&bih=707&tbm=isch&tbnid=F0psTpEGQG-rbM:&imgrefurl=http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/closed.cgi%3Fview_closed_item%26fwbettasct1267814105&docid=7C-1xbkLPGDdgM&itg=1&imgurl=http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/7374/6738.jpg&w=495&h=385&ei=Yy3sT626He6YiAfd8PDKBQ&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=984&vpy=357&dur=130&hovh=198&hovw=255&tx=132&ty=122&sig=105936966928822218083&page=7&tbnh=156&tbnw=202&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:19,s:117,i:131 Edited June 28, 2012 by Chi
shadoh
They are out there, but pretty rare - doesn't seem to be many people working on them, therefore the quality is variable. I've seen red dragons, the most common being the red copper dragon, but don't think I've ever seen a black dragon CT. If you are willing to put in the hard work in establishing a line of dragon CTs, it may be worth a go.
Lilly
Thanks Chi, guess I didn't look hard enough. Ah okay, I suspected there weren't many around- thankyou Shadoh. Food for thought! If I come across anything on Aquabid I might grab it, or ask someone if she ever gets any in. If I can get my keeping and spawning down pat it might be interesting to give a go. If you outcross a dragon to a regular/non-dragon, would putting a daughter or son back to the dragon parent result in dragons again? Just thinking about how you'd achieve other colours. shadoh
If the dragon x non dragon parents are both CT, then yes, breeding fry back to dragon parent would be the fastest way to get dragon back.
afr3178
AI have assorted dragon crowntails on their stock list at the moment.
