afr3178
Hey all, I'm going to be buying some brine shrimp eggs from someone. She said they can't be decapsulated.. What does that mean? Can I still hatch them? Any different storage? Also, I'm buying a $60 tin... Does anyone know how big it? Cheers
Sarah
Decapsulation is when you remove the shell on the brine shrimp eggs. Yes, you can still hatch them - I got my eggs from someone and they have the best hatch rate I've had yet. I've taken Busman's tip from someone - keep some in the fridge that you're using (taking them out to hatch of course), and put the rest in the freezer. Really keeps it's shelf life with a good hatch rate.
little_troppo
I have left mine under a fish tank for years, I guess there useless now? Should I throw them out or are they still good nutrients as eggs? Edited April 29, 2012 by HarryL
Sarah
You could try hatching them but I doubt they'll have much of a hatch rate at all.
shadoh
It's worth doing a test hatch before you decide if they are any good or not. I saw a video on YouTube of a guy hatching some brine shrimp eggs that had sat in his basement for 30 years....
Matt_95
If you have old dead eggs, decapsulate them and the fish will still eat them and they are very nutritious.
