bubbzy81
Actually Bettarazzi, I had this image of a wine barrel with a pool fence around it! lol Thanks Lyarlla, that sounds like a great idea. I feel much better about doing it now. Another "gunner" project. My husband will be so thrilled... Not! lol
Lyarlla
I think your whole idea is fantastic to be honest! Im thinking of how amazing one would look under the patio with a lily in it and a bunch of female betta :D
bubbzy81
Well as usual someone had to dampen my parade. I was telling my mum about this idea & she believes that by law even ponds have to have pool fencing around them if they're over a certain depth. I'll have to look into it. Lyarlla
Hi bubbzy81, Different states in Australia regulate pools, ponds, other bodies of water differently etc with regards to depth and fencing. I believe SA, for example, has no laws in place for fencing of ponds, but strongly recommends using strong wire mesh over the top, or no mesh and a depth of 300mm. Different councils are also more anal about it than other councils, so the best thing to do would be to call or email your local council to find out. For example... http://www.geelongcity.vic.gov.au/library/pdf/5053/53.pdf
jo oakley
I don't think that I have to worrier about kids out here and if you have to put a fence around the barrel all the water troughs would have to be fenced
