Leela
Wow, they're beautiful! I've never even heard of convicts before. So is the paler one the female, or an albino type? Any the fry are just so beautiful!

fnesr
Thanks guys The white one is the fem Leela. The white colouration is just a colour morph and is known as a "pink convict". You can have male and female of either colour (barred or pink) and a pair can be any combonation. If breeding with a pink though the gene which produces the colour morph will be passed on to offspring so you will get a mix of barred and pink fry, whereas if you breed two barred fish together you will get all striped offspring (unless their ancestors included a pink somewhere along the line). Chuckie
are the convicts easy to sell? I really like them, and always have, but have heard that the market is saturated because they are such prolific breeders.
Jess
My LFS has fry at 4.5cm going for $4.40 each! You want the fry so badly as they look like little shell dwellers.
fnesr
They are very hard to sell as they are one of the easiest new world cichlids to breed. Some LFS will offer store credit for them though which is not bad to cover the cost of foods for them and other fish you might have.
