KatuwaToy
are arenas and plakats the same thing but arenas sold at a different (higher)price because its called an arena or are the different? if so how?
forever_and_a_day
the term 'plakat' just refers to the short-tail type of bettas. 'arena', to my understanding refers to a type of plakat that looks very close to wild splendens and is traditionally bred in countries like thailand for fighting (hence the name arena) hope that helps :)
CNgo2006
Yep Arena Betta are specifically bred for there thick scales, robust body, speed, stamina and overall toughness...they are graded up to 5 stars I believe and if they come from champion bloodlines, can demand a hefty sum to obtain. les
The word Plakat is derived from Thai words, Pla = Biting, Kad = Fish, "Biting Fish". You can quite often see it spelt Plakad instead of Plakat. The term Plakat is used in the Betta comunity to discrid short fin Betta of the Splendens variety The name Arena indicates the style of Plakat some one would be talking about. A MSP Modern Show Plakat would be an example of another style of Plakat. Cheers les
