Fletch
Advice please. I know one at least is female as I have had eggs. My guess is female. This ones tube sticks out a lot further and she gets very round. Male to follow in ten.
Fletch
My guess of the boy? Tube doesn't stck out as much and not as plump. Other fish is the dominant one though. Thoughts??
Matt_95
First is a female. Can't see enough of the male to sex it, when they spawn it's tube should be thinner and come to a point while the females is more blunt and fat.
afr3178
Check out this video, it's REALLY good! I learnt a lot. The 5 minute mark gives you a bit of an idea at width. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBF4CfUCVpY IMO I think they're both female, just because the part is thicker. It doesn't have much to do with how much is sticking out, that's up to them how much they want to show a males is really thin. The first is definitely female, I think waiting for the second to show their bits a bit more will make it more obvious Edited May 23, 2012 by afr3178

Matt_95
You have to keep in mind though that all the other features besides the vents are only guides, both sexes can exhibit those features. They're good to get a good idea on but you won't know for sure unless you get fertile eggs or you see their vents properly.
