SiameseFightingFist Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 I put a slice of blanched zucchini in the tank for the otos, one of the seeds went loose and the betta went for it, just managed to get it in its mouth and swallowed the whole thing. Should I start worrying? They were all fed a good meal of flakes earlier tonight (the otos don't touch flakes, hence the zucchini) so his little stomach was probably already full.
Fletch Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 Not much you can do now other than keep an eye on him. Hope he passes it ok. :-)
SiameseFightingFist Posted October 30, 2011 Author Report Posted October 30, 2011 Being a carnivore, I'm concerned that the betta's stomach can't digest the seed.
Fletch Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 They do eat greens as well (peas). I would be concerned of it blocking him up. As said though, not sure what you can do now.
SiameseFightingFist Posted October 30, 2011 Author Report Posted October 30, 2011 alright. I hope this somehow turns out ok. I like the little guy.
kertaz Posted October 30, 2011 Report Posted October 30, 2011 If he doesn't pass it up, maybe give him peas as it will act as laxative for Bettas. Only if he doesn't pass it up though..
SiameseFightingFist Posted October 30, 2011 Author Report Posted October 30, 2011 As of this morning he's still swimming around like normal. *cross fingers* I bet he wouldn't touch the peas. He'd swallow a whole zucchini seed but I bet he wouldn't come close to touching something good for him like peas.
zhong89 Posted October 31, 2011 Report Posted October 31, 2011 I would think it would pass right throw him considering he can't digest it. Think of it as fiber that cleans out his digestive track
SiameseFightingFist Posted October 31, 2011 Author Report Posted October 31, 2011 I hope so Joan. It was crazy-looking cos that whole intact seed was probably bigger than his stomach.
SiameseFightingFist Posted October 31, 2011 Author Report Posted October 31, 2011 He's still alive and swimming around the tank!
