Guest sammcc
Hi. I have a small 8L tank, and in the intro forum, somebody suggested I get test kits for these to prevent killing my fish. What types do you recommend (cheap) and what do you do if these said levels are to high or low? I am getting a new, 18L tank (from Big W) in the next week or so as well, so I was looking for some answers to other questions like: Does it come with filter media, and where do you buy the cartridges. Does it have an opening to put a heater, airstone/wall into it? Thanks, Sam
Neffy
Its not a cheap hobby, id recommend getting a master test kit so you can test everything (PH,Ammonia, Nitrates & nitrites) There about $50 or if u cant afford that then Ammonia will be your first big obstacle and biggest killer and you should try and get at least a test kit for that. =D http://www.ausaqua.net/files/NewAquariumBl...rogenCycle.html
Chuckie
you need test kits for ammonia and nitrIte, not pH and nitrAte. Ammonia and nitrite are poisonous and will kill your fish. NitrAte and pH will be the least of your problems til you have ammonia and nitrIte sorted out. Hope that helps. There are articles on the nitrogen cycle at ww.ausaqua.net which I would advise you to read.
