bubbzy81
Hi everyone! I'm a new member from Frankston, Victoria. I currently have a a couple of well established tropical tanks. Bigger tank manly live bearers (mollies, swordtails etc) & a guppy tank (only males). I also have several pet Bettas & I'm interested in "trying" (lol) to breed them but am a little overwhelmed with where to get started! TraceTrace
Hi bubbzy81! Welcome to AusAqua! Have a look at the "Spawn Tank" section of this site - so much information there to get you started - plus you can always post any questions that you have! bubbzy81
Hi Kylie. I was thinking of getting a pair imported but being my first time I thought maybe I should just stick to a pair that I can go pick up myself. Do you mind if I ask was it expensive to buy them & have them shipped and all?
koriana
Hi Bubbzy , Actually thanks to someone, it really isnt all that expensive, when you weigh up the type of fish that you can buy. Like a lot of people on here =) I bought them from www.aquabid.com , I read the conditions of each seller carefully to make sure i understood all costs, there is a pinned note in I think the classifieds section? showing JodÃ-Lea's costs . My male and female will end up costing me about $120 including , all shipping and the cost of the actual fish, that is for the pair. Being located where I am , I dont really have access to Betta breeders so shipping was my only option, I will also be buying another pair (already in australia) from someone and having them shipped with my pair, this will take the costing of my fish down slightly to $105 for the pair =) But to me they are worth every cent! If you have access to a Good LFS you can find some really nice fish, I dont have that option =) kylie
bubbzy81
Thanks Kylie. That info is great to know. I suppose you wouldn't have much choice out your way. I have plenty of LFS around my way, "good" ones though is questionable. lol. The pair I have at the moment (bought from my trusted LFS) are snow white deltas but they show almost no signs of interest in each other & I've heard a few people comment that store bought ones are sometimes beyond the optimal breeding age so that's why I keep going back to the idea of buying from a breeder. & I also had a look on aquabid & another sight & they're fish are gorgeous. I guess that option is always there for me. Thanks once again for sharing that info with me. It's much appreciated!
