G'day new to these forums, and i was wondering if anyone could recommend some top breeders from thailand, as i'm looking to purchase some better breeds of bettas then the current stock floating around perth. But mostly because i'm also heading over to thailand for a holiday in nov and going to have a visit of some of the stores and farms as well.

WELCOME!

Talk to someone...(member of this forum)

someone Matheson at Brisbane Queensland / someone@internode.on.net / Phone: 61 419 709 410 (mobile)

If you are a hobbyist you can only bring fish in through the proper channels....

someone is the only importer I know of that will bring fish in for hobbyists

Have a look at AquaBid.com

You will see a lot of fighters for sale from Thailand....and all breeders that sell to Australia do so through someone

I'm sure you will have a Great time in Thailand!

Hi JSC. Welcome to the forum.

You have to go to Rayong if you can. A lot of good breeders there: Suporn Khumhorn, Rung Keereelang and many others. It's 3 hours from Bangkok so you will need to hire a car. How are you planning to get the fish back to Perth?

Cheers for the warm welcome peoples, well i've been loooking on aquabid for awhile now and noticed that i have to shop with a transhipper, so not too sure if i shop then or wait til i get back or before i go. It's more of shopping with a top breeder and collecting info on shops and farms to visit, yeah very much willing to hire a car to trek out that far. Worth the effort, so if anyone can offer any info on a good breeder and how to get in touch with them or a site to visit that would be a big help. I'll even take the camera to get pictures of the shops and farms.

Ok I get the picture now. So you will in fact have to send your fish back to Australia through Jodi. So what you should do is choose AquaBid sellers who advertise Jodi as their Australian transhipper. Then you contact them via the 'contact the seller' function in AquaBid. You can then buy the fish while you are there and have the seller send the fish to Jodi. Easy peasy.

Do a bit of homework and figure out where things are in Thailand. AquaBid shows the location of each seller. Aquastar's farm is only about an hour from Bangkok. So you might be able to get a taxi there or hire a car and drive yourself. Rayong is an absolute must see. You should probably allow 2 days for that since it's 3 hours away. But I haven't been there.

Some of the breeders may offer to take you to a few farms. However don't expect them to take you to all the farms on your list even if it's nearby. It's very competitive over there. So if you get an offer like that it means that they will take you to the farms of their friends and associates.

The AquaBid sellers who I think have interesting fish are: Aquastar71, Gorgeous, Bluebetta, Banleangbettas, Smilebetta, Nicebettas, Patsayawan, TheSea_99.

You should also go to Chatuchak market. The sellers there are mostly agents for the breeders but you can find some very good fish and it's fun.
