Snowflake
I just realised the guy at the fish shop gave me a Java plant not fern. Is this going to be ok for my new little one? Snowflake
Hi Jess, it's the long leafy plant as seen in the pic under my name. Shall I take a better pic?
Chuckie
No, that''s Java fern. There's no such thing as "Java Plant". There is a thing called Java Moss, but that wasn't what I suggested that you buy.

I'm going to look through other threads regarding amonia burn. Noticed the new Betta has a little black around the tip of his back tail. I think I need you all over at my house for advice, coffee and biscuits on me. :)
Chuckie
aha. That black is the beginnings of finrot. Keeping him in his nice big new tank with good clean water will really help with that. Have a look at the post on treating finrot in Australia, here .

Can someone please bang me over the head I'll read up on it. I've got a bucket of water standing but I have no way of knowing if there's no amonia in it but I have put in Prime. Will this be ok to use...hang on I'm in the wrong forum *she's going away again to bang her head*
