Java Moss and planting it

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Just trying not to make my betta barracks so empty and was thinking of putting some java moss in there

the idea I had was to get a Styrofoam cup, cut it in half and weave cotton in and out of the side sowing the moss on to the cup

Does this sound lame, would it just sink ?

Other option was to get some small plastic pots and plant the java moss on that at the bottom of the tank using pebbles to hold them down

Here is one I made, I used a hairnet but you only get like 4 in a packet. It's behind the betta.

It has now grown in nice and lush although it is only Java moss, it was sold as peacock :(

java moss (most mosses in fact) will sit on the floor of a tank nicely without attaching it to anything........ I leave my java moss loose in my tanks that way there's no nets or string for inquisitive fish to bury their heads in and catch themselves.... if a Betta can get stuck in the hole of a plastic binder divider it can get stuck in netting or fishing line.....
