loongfu
i noticed while browsing around on aquabid that some breeders like crossing PKs with Imbellis. why do they do this? if i purchased one pair of these, would i be able to enter their kids into competitions without getting disqualified etc? Phil
Are you talking about the ones that are listed by Live tropical export? To me it just seems like a fancy name they have given them, not neccecarily a cross since the colours and shape of the fish are the same as others with out the 'hybrid imbellis' part in them. I could be wrong though. :goodo:
edie
crossing with imbellis usually has the shape longer and skinnier, and usually to bring the 'wild' colour such as metallic into the gene. donno about disqualifying stuff, since i dont think there is anything about saying "imbellis not allowed" somewhere there :)
Fishchick
fish are judged on phenotype - not genotype. so "imbellis/smaragdina" hybrids are all classed as splendens or fancy show. True strains go into the wild class. Problem with the "hybrid" colours is what class to put them in! Cheers, J
