keeping Betta with sand substrate?

does anyone keep their bettas on a sand substrate - im looking at using propergating sand so texture of shell grit to try it but would eventually like to try white play sand so quite fine.... how do you go keeping ph steady ?

i do, i just used builders sand.. it was left over from when the hosue was built, and had been buried in the ground for a while with grass and stuff growing in it..

The other sand I use it just pure sand, the clenest sand i've ever seen haha, i think it's almost glass it's so clean

I have white sand in my 3ft and a bit of white in my fighter tanks, considering the driftwood in my tank the ph drops a fair bit so i have calcium in the tank for that reason :)
