coling Posted October 1, 2009 Report Share Posted October 1, 2009 Hi, Looking for some help in lighting options. I have a 6x2x2ft tank that I want to plant with medium to low light plants. Currently I am running 2x39w x 2 unreflected (black) battons in the wooden hood. Obviously this leaves the tank rather dimly lit especially towards the substrate. After lots of searching on the net I see that most people opt to use hanging lights or lights supported above the tank top. I would like to keep the existing hood, and was wondering if there was an issue with having higher power lights so close to the tank surface? Tank is unheated but usually hovers around the 26 -29 deg mark. I was leaning towards a T5 8 globe set up. Any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated Cheers, col.
