MG Plakats

I made a lucky find a male MG plakat in a tank of females, and (better still) about 3 females of the same colour. It is the chocolate/blue MG variety, not true MG. The male is chocolate with irrid. green highlights and royal blue edging around his fins. The female is similar, but her edging is narrower and she has slightly more green irrid. She also looks to have mild crowning on her caudal. I chose her out of the three because of a slightly more pronounced point on her caudal anal fin. She was also less oversize than the other two options. Here is the thing though. the tank was full of red/browns and red/greens. The tails were similar to that of the MG coloured female, mild crowning. I remember Lisa got some very unusual reds out of a MGxyellow pairing. Have I just bought 2 very lovely looking fish (for someone who likes brown fish )) only to have them throw full spawns of red/green and red/brown? What is the likelyhood of getting non-reds and MG out of these fish, assuming that they are all from the same spawn?

for starters, where did you get these? Lisas problem with her spawn was that it was MG x Yellow, the yellow stuffed up the genetics and gave her red. As you can see from sharons spawn of MG x MG, the fry were all mg.

Wet and Dry at Kingswood. They also have imbellis (they look all male ) and about 5 types of killies (rather $$ @ $31 each) I'll post piccies in a day or two :)

oh there, i might go down tomorrow and see what they have They only ever have VT's which is a shame.

If I recall correctly, Sharon's MG x MG spawn also threw some cellophanes - so it's all good!

they are far more impressive IRL... I'll have to buy a new photo tank and get some better pics of them. They are more chocolate with blue/green highlights than true MG, but considering what passes as a MG these days, they aren't too bad :scold:

yeah, a choco MG, i went and had a look today, there was 3 others like the female but no males of tha colouration, just wild/black males in there :scold:

u know what, i have no idea at all what happened to her, i dont remember her dying and i dont have her now. must be one of those mysterious dissapearances i have had before.
