This is George, son of Splodge the crowntail in my avatar.

He's remarkably fast and hard to photograph, but I got a few decent shots.

Unfortuanately I didn't take his pictures before he went in the spawn tank and there is some damage to the third caudal ray from Daisy.

His webbing billows as he swims, it's quite amazing to watch. I did get some video, but haven't got time to upload it now, will try tomorrow.

I've heard that half moon tails can get too heavy and collapse, is it possible with crowntails? His tail just seems to get the better of him occasionally.

Wow, now that is a nice crowntail!!! A lot of finnage, which is always beautiful.

lol, i guess since he has a lot of fin then he probably would have a little trouble but i reckon if he still swims and eats and shows off, then dont worry about it.

Are you going to breed him or just for display?

Looking fwd to the video when you get time to upload

Thank you! I did want to breed him, but I think he may be tstb. He did try, but didn't get the wrapping thing going, thus my wondering about the weight of his tail. The poor girl ended up sputtering eggs everywhere after a couple of days. His mouth is a bit odd, someone told me it may be from giving them pellets so young, but it doesn't seem to affect his ability to eat or anything. The spread of his caudal is very good, so I guess I'll give it another go, but might get another un-related female and see if that helps.

I've been trying to upload the video but my conection keeps dropping out :) will try again tomorrow.

Not really happy with either of these video's, but here is a link to another. This one is longer, you can see that his caudal rays are balok from time to time, something I'm yet to capture in a still.

I need practice with video, the lighting is very different.

His colour is hard to catch ( being in IAL stained water probably doesn't help :)) His fins are dark red, burgundy is a good description Pilchard, with white patches on some rays. His body is 'dirty' cambodian, and he has steel blue irid that spreads out to the fins giving the purple-ish tones you see.
