bubbzy81
So I've finally given in to temptation & purchased my first fish (well 2 boys & their siblings) on Aquabid. I cannot believe how addicitve it is! My tracking list was so long, but I had to be ruthless & cut it down to the 2 fellas I wanted the most. That's not to say there won't be anymore in the future (lol), but for now here's who I'm waiting on: http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/clo...tashm1236732332 http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/clo...tashm1236671399 Now I'm only a novice at this, so to many they might not be the nicest fish, but to me they were just gorgeous! Oh I love them so! :)
Chuckie
Aquabid purchases are always exciting! The currency conversion, not so much... but you get used to it! I love Kit's fish (Aquatar) and I'd buy/breed that blue BF. The black/green fancy HM is a nicely conformed fellow, too.
bubbzy81
Well Lilli I'm planning on breeding them both, but you know what my success rate is like! I don't have much luck on that front. But that's why I'm hoping some nice young fellows might be the go as opposed to the LFS guys I've been trying with. Kit's fish are gorgeous! I REALLY had to hold back. I don't want to become the crazy fish lady.... Well not just yet anyway! lol
koriana
They look great =) You wont have any problems someone will look after you! You picked some lovely fish! well done kylie
bubbzy81
Aw shucks, thanks Kylie. I'm a bit of a sucker for "pretty" fish. Maybe not necessarily the best "specimens" but nice bright colours. What can I say? I'm a typical girl! But now for the tricky part (besides breeding them of course), STOP LOOKING ON AQUABID! I must stop looking, I must stop looking, I must stop looking, I must stop looking, I must stop looking, I must stop looking, I must stop looking... But one last quick look (he he) & I think I'm in lurrrrve! http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auc...&1236883749 But maybe I can justify this. Can breeding bettas actually make a profit or is it just for the love of it? I am totally expecting it to be a hobby I pour money into & get little back. Marianne
I'd say you can make money from doing it, after you've bought all the equipment you need. But I'd think that to begin with you'd have to put whatever you make into more/better equipement, and once you have everything you need, you'd be able to make money. But don't expect to get rich:)
bubbzy81
Oh I'd be over the moon if I just covered costs. The initial setting up has cost me a fair bit, but I'm more worried about the up keep of all the tanks. Lotions & potions galore, live food & then there's the electricity bill. 10xheaters, 9xfilters, 9xlights.... my partner will hit the roof! He'll have a fit. :giggle:
bubbzy81
Ok, so I've given into temptation & purchased him (& a sibling) as well. Look I figure if I've got fish coming over already, I may as well get him & save on freight costs... Does that sound plausable??? lol http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/clo...tashm1237315821
Chuckie
Plausible, very plausible. Well it's the excuse I use, anyway! Don't forget the individual importation price per fish though (I tend to). That's a nice salamander.
bubbzy81
Thanks Lilli. I thought he was just gorgeous. I know that the individual importing price is per fish, I'm just hoping getting them transported from someone to my place will be cheaper to get them all at once. bubbzy81
& here's the Salamanders little girlfriend. She's a babe! lol http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/clo...tashm1237320610
a_little_oc
Lovely fish, congrat's. I had those 3 boys in my wish list. I'm glad we didn't bid on the same ones. It took me ages to decide which one I wanted to bid on. This is the one I bought: http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/clo...tashm1236883721 I found out I have also bought: http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/clo...tashm1236626404 I had an email saying I had been outbid. a_little_oc
bubbzy81, it's a pity we live so far apart, maybe we could have shared the freight costs.
