swan
Just wondering if anyone has tried placing Cherry red shrimps or small shrimps of any kind in to spawn tanks after the father has been taken out to clean up any uneaten food? Bender
I haven't heard of it being done. Snails are usually recommended as a cleanup crew. Are the shrimp known to eat live prey, insect larvae and such? If so I wouldn't risk it with small fry. If however they eat detritus and algae exclusively, it may be worth a try. killimike
Cherry shrimp are apparently fine in tanks of breeding killies. This doesn't say much, they could be egg eaters, but just not find all the eggs, in the betta situation the eggs and fry are a little more concentrated :-)
swan
Well from what I've read online, they feed mostly on algae but will eat other fish food when forced to (when theres nothing else to eat). Not sure if they eat live food though. I would assume that when the male is removed most of the hatchable eggs would have been hatched and you'd just have fry... might be a worry though if they do eat fry... I guess I might try when the fry are a few days old and more active (less easy to catch).
