Bender
I harvested my second lot of mosquito rafts an hour or so ago an placed them in my fry tank. Just now I saw a wriggling thing emerging from one of the rafts and was pleased I got to it in time. However Splodge also saw the little wriggler and promptly swallowed it, AND THE RAFT! A second raft was in the tank, but I can't see it or any sign of wrigglers so think he may have eaten it whole too. Has anyone seen this before? Will he need some green peas to help move it though? Should I let my rafts hatch in a separate container from now on?
splendidbetta
How big was the fish that ate the raft, how big was the raft?
Callatya
*lol* well that is different! Gave me a bit of a giggle! I think the raft itself should be fibrous enough to just move through the system. I'm sure bettas have eaten weirder things when they are outdoors and in the wild :)
Bender
*lol* Thats what I was hopping to hear! He is an adult crown tail, about medium build I'd say, and the raft was well, mozzie raft size? A little bigger than a greater duckweed leaf in area, but thicker. I guess he's just sick of the kids eating all the best food in the house before he gets the chance.
Bettarazzi
My fish always eat the rafts before they hatch. I don't really mind. Prefer that than having mosquitos in the fishroom.
