Bender
I just found this idea using airline instead of gluing the dividers in, kind of hard to describe, so HERE is the link. Has anyone here tried this before?
fishbites
I haven't tried it but might give it a go with my new betta tank I'm building - thanks for the link Bender.
zaphod 373
Yes indeed I have done this to separate fish for like 25years. I use thicker plastic tubing usually with acrylic sheet although as other people mention it does bow a bit and I dont drill holes just put a filter one side and the return on the other and the water flows through the gravel and around the edges. You do need to cut your acrylic spot on or stick a couple of suction cups for extra support. For a temporary measure at the moment I am separating 2 kribs with a sheet of thick plastic sold for patio blinds I think, stiff but bendable slipped into airline tubing works fine although its not pretty. Bender
Thanks Zaphod! I was just considering my options for temporarily dividing a small tank, your reply reminded me of this one, and your recommendation helped me choose.
Nicola
(sorry if this is classed as bumping an old thread) But.. Has anyone else tried this? but not with a under gravel filter? like one of those Aqua one hang on the back filters? or a internal filter? that doesn't go under the gravel? or could someone explain how it would work as i am one of those people, that have trouble understanding written directions and learn by example...
