Stuart
Am near the Epping area, (Nth Ryde). I keep african cichlids, 6 bristlenose, 1 goldfish which i've had for years (how long do they live?), clown loaches, key hole cichlids and convict cichlids. I used to keep cichlids when i was younger in a seven foot tank, which i still have in storage, but due to a lack of room, have been limited to a four foot tank. i once had a 35cm barra by himself, he was very entertaining!! i used have archer fish, which i loved, when i was living on the central coast, but in Sydney, i can't find them anywhere. would anyone out there have any ideas? i only want small ones, so i can teach them to jump and spit. Chuckie
I have definitely seen Archer fish around recently. Try St George Aquarium, that might be where I saw them. Good luck!
Stuart
thanks heaps lilli, i will try st george aquarium when i get the time, maybe Saturday if we're visiting family in Sutherland!!
hobbygodz
Yep,St George sells archers. I have also seen them at majestic. If you are visiting Sutherland have a look upstairs in the petshop in flora st,they only do freshwater fish. Cheers!
Stuart
ok, thanks brad. i'll be sure to check it out. i was at majestic the other weak, but their order didn't come through, and were therefore out of stock. i had to settle for an electric blue instead. hehe

Stuart
hmmm, it seems we went to Fox Studios instead of Sutherland, and i worked myself up so much over these archerfish. But not to be. does anyone know a place a little closer to home, as Sutherland is 45mins to 1hr away? i asked my local aquarium at marsfield if they would order in any archerfish for me, but they rang me up saying that their supplier doesn't provide them. i was so dissapointed. so yeah, anywhere a little closer to home? Lyarlla, do you know if that aquarium at hornsby has any? oh, also, are guppies easy to breed? i want to get some my small tank in my room cheers!! Figure_8
guppies are the rabbits of the fish world
Stuart
haha, lol. i shall get some males and females. i think i should practice raising the fry of these before the cichlids get older, espacially my 4 convicts. they were $2.50ea, so had to get them. i have 1 male and 3 females, babies should be a consequence. thanks
Stuart
so i was looking today for the guppies. Looking, looking, looking, but there were no sign of these female guppies anywhere. males are everywhere you look, coz they're the nice coloured, attractive ones. but what about the females? some people want them aswell. where do i find? oh, by the way, i think i'm going to st george aquarium today. something will probably come up though, and i'll end up not going. i can almost touch the archers now. maybe they'll have female guppies aswell. does anyone know anything about the aquarium at Beverley Hills, on King George's Road. might be going there aswell. Chuckie
Strictly is always kind of fun, but more for your 'community' type fish. They do tend to have one or two more specialised species in stock. You could give them a call and see if they have archers, I guess? Livefish seem to be able to deliver archer fish. They stock 8cm ones.
Stuart
so i went to st george aquarium yesterday, only to find out that it is closed on Sundays AND MONDAYS. so disappointed. went today, and it is HUUUUUGE. omg, i couldn't get over it. and yes i got 3 archers. YAY. i went to strictly's yesterday, and got myself some male guppies and two baby mono's. then today at the aquarium, i found the same mono's cheaper (not by much though) and mono's about 6x larger for an extra $10. eh. i also got some female guppies and two cichlids which look pretty good, but don't know what they are. they are blue, with a yellow tail and fins. something on th elines of acei, or something, not sure. they look good and healthy and that's all that matters. TALLNEV
I use to keep archers just be careful of them jumping as well as spitting at you its funny the first time but can get annoying after a while
