lpiasente
Can you post a pic of your plants? Or do you know the name of them. Some LPS sell crappy plants that no matter what you do will just fall apart. I personally don't use co2 ( haven't got that far yet) but I do use dino pee, dino spit and dino dung and I have great success with plant growth without co2. The dino dung is a good substrate fert, I would definatly get that and the spit as well. Good luck
Bettarazzi
Sounds like there might be more nutrients going into the tank than the plants can use which is causing the algal bloom. Do a water change and hold off on the dino pee for a week. Manually remove as much of the algae as you can.
Callatya
Are you running carbon in your filter? How old are the grow lights?
Daniel
It's always helpful to know what type of algae you are dealing with, each can be specific to certain parameter imbalances.
fighter boy
sae - flying fox work well. be sure to get the true fox though. there are 3 species on the market today and the flying fox is the only one that eats algea. the others eat very little of it and can be aggressive,.. Canfeleq
How long has the tank been set up? If it is newly established it could be that the plants you have chosen were cultivated out of the water, called emersed culture. If this is the case most of them will die back while they adapt. Rod
Hi Matty. Pics would Help... There are lots of plants sold in Fish shops that were never meant to be permanently submersed....they will die You need to get the right plants....Java moss, java ferns, anubias and crypts are all pretty hardy low light plants....no need for co2 If you have the right plants they will use the nutrients and starve the algae.....if it is still a problem there are a number of fish that will eat algae....mollies,florida flags are 2 that spring to mind.
