Bettarazzi
The arrival of the new fish from Suporn prompted me to put up the Bunnings shelves finally. The shelves were lot bigger than I'd expected. So I had to move everything around. The filing cabinet has been moved twice and actually so have all the shelving in the room. Still a lot of junk to be thrown out. But it made such a difference getting the shelves in there. All the junk is at least off the floor.

kitstyles
Is much better than b4 What are those light? Are they expensive and how do stuck them on the top of each section?
Bettarazzi
They're normal aquarium lights at the normal (ie expensive) aquarium price I've attached an L-shaped bracket to the shelf above and they're just resting on the bracket. If I'm careless I knock them off the bracket and then drop whatever I'm holding (usually wet) as I try to grab it before it falls onto the tank. :D
windyzz
That wooden shelf u got for the tanks, did u find that in bunnings? how much was it? My parents will blow my head off first Nice room.. it turning out much neater EDITED: is that a macbook pro i see there ??? and the mac desktop ?? mmmmmm i smell another macintosh fan xD, i have a 2 macbook btw (white and black)
Bettarazzi
The shelf on the left is from Bunnings. The shelf on the right is an old Ikea one which I think is now discontinued. It's been replaced with something similar called Gorm. But last time I checked they didn't have any in stock. There's not a lot of difference between the two. And yes, I like my Macs. I mostly use a Powerbook G4. That old iMac needs to be retired.
windyzz
Powerbook are heapsszzz awesome... i reckon they better then the newer macbook proo, as they just have to much hardware problems (LCD, etc, etc). I was initially planning to get a powerbook.. but they're soooo expensivee ><. All my macbook that i bought are refurbished. They're heaps cheaper and most of them are already upgraded ( i got an extra 1 gig ram ). Btw how much does those rack in bunnings costs you? I'm planning to make a similar rack in a smaller scale with my dad for my room.
Bettarazzi
The starter pack which consists of 4 posts and 4 shelves plus cross-brace (quite wobbly without it) costs $53. I bought 2 starter packs and 4 corner shelves plus I had to get an extra 2 posts for the corner shelves.

Anasfire
Sorry to be reviving an older post but I've got a cheaper solution for the lighting, I bought a florescent light (no cover and no switch as my ex is handy with electrical things) for around $20, and it came with a tube so I just discarded the tube and bought one of the same size from the aquarium shop, that has all the proper light spectrum etc, for about $15 so all up I got an aquarium light for around $35! A lot cheaper than the $60 I've seen the proper ones selling for! The light the way it is now can be screwed under a shelf easily but I'm getting my ex to build me a hood for my 3ft tank and it's going in there. We're going to attempt to grow elodea for spawning! Cheaper than buying it and to be honest it really isn't that difficult to grow the stuff...it is a weed after all hehe
Sara_01
i do the same thing with my lighting, and elodea lol. i also grow lots of duckweed (not hard either) md my prents live out of town they hve dm nd so do their neighbors nd they are only too happy for me to take small banana lillies from the dams
chromis
Nice shelves you got there! I'll think of getting something like that when I have more tanks.
Bettarazzi
My sink has been installed! For those of you that don't know what the heck I'm talking about, I got a sink for Christmas. Yep, a sink. A laundry tub to be precise. It's for my fishroom/study. And today it got installed, yay! It's great not having to lug 20 ltr buckets out to the garden. Now I just pour it down the sink and it goes straight out to the garden. There's a long hose outside attached to the output and we can drag it wherever we want in the garden. Yeah, yeah, I know you want a pic. It's a sink, not a six-banded, rainbow coloured, over full moon. But just so I don't get accused of not practicing what I preach.... here you go. One sink. It's got a badge on the front that says, 'Nu-Gleam'. Don't look at the mess on the shelves. There's going to be more shelves going above the sink. Oh and we also made some shelves for the beanie boxes so that they can be tiered on the main shelf. A bit hard to explain. I will post a pic once it's done. There are 8 more 20 cm cube tanks coming. They're actually ready I just have to go and pick them up. The LFS called me twice about it. And I'm ordering a sump for the beanie boxes. It's all happening! Bren MacFish
It's a gorgeous sink. You must be very proud. Sometimes fish waste water makes my plants go brown. My banana trees are very unhappy about it, so are some of the box hedges, the rest of the plants don't mind so much. Let me know if it happens to your garden too. splendidbetta
It's all coming together nicely Michael Who makes your tanks, what sizes can they make, and what do they cost? :)
Bettarazzi
The 20cm cubes I ordered from Chinatown Aquarium, $25 each. Chinatown Aquarium order it from their supplier. Some kind of glazing factory I think. The standard tanks below average prices, I think. Not that I've done a survey or anything. But a standard 2ft costs $50. Custom built tanks are more expensive because they're cut by hand. The standard ones are cut by machine.

You said (in this post) that the garden would LOVE the fish water. They wont? Man! I was relying on your expert advice, now my garden's going to die. Yeah, maybe you shouldn't listen to me, I'm a very contrary muddled person. Actually most of my plants love it and the grass loves it... just those bananas and boxes hate it... maybe don't put it on any plants that start with B, except begonias... they like it, geraniums love it too... it's probably quite acidic.
Bettarazzi
Acidic is fine. It's going on the hydrangeas which will make them nice and blue next year. And the azaleas which like the acidity.
