Im also from Adelaide I got my betta after he did. My bro used to breed them when I was pretty young, and my grandparents have a few large tropical tanks, so it seemed like a good interest. Hehe. He went to bed before i asked if i could nick it My bros betta used to be called Spitz though, which i thought was good. Mine is called Jynx, cox i think its a funky word with no vowels. Hehe.
