splendidbetta Posted November 3, 2006 Report Share Posted November 3, 2006 I don't know what it is, but I always have it on my equipment and mostly I only know it's there when I touch it. I think it is beneficial bacteria or maybe algae (but it is translucent, so not sure about algae.) It could also be organic matter that has accumilated on the plastic/rubber from the water? Figure_8 Posted November 4, 2006 Report Share Posted November 4, 2006 yeah, its scungy, its scummy, its gross and it looks bad, but it doesn't hurt anything. It usually stops after a while when the rubber isn't so new I think someone once said that their snails ate it, but apart from that a good wipe off and suction will keep it looking better.
