TraceBruno
My box of grindals is going really well despite the neglect suffered as we have been moving house. There are heaps clumping on the surface and through the mixture. A lot of them are beginning to climb though, and there are hundred "pooled" upside down on the roof of the container in droplets of condensation. I have small holes on the top of the container and some have tried the great escape much to the disgust of OH Is it ok for my grindals to be climbing and "pooling" up the top? Is there a reason for this - not enough water, oxygen, food, etc? They seem to be consuming all the food I put down for them within 24 hours. Thanks! PeterJ
The media may be deteriorating. Could be too acidic, too wet or not enough O2. I'd back off the feeds a bit, stir the media if it looks and/or smells like it needs it. If you've had it a long time you might want to start a new culture in fresh media or add some shell grit or other source of calcium to help buffer the pH.
