Female Community Tank

Thanks for the advice, I may have some watersprite in my 3ft tank (or something that looks very similar). It's planted in the Substrate so I never thought of it as a floating plant. Next time I'm in the in the Auburn Aquarium shop I'll look out for Hornwart. Riccia always looks good in the Aquarium landscaping books but have only seen it for sale twice, and when I decided to buy some it was sold. one day perhaps! At least nobbody is saying don't try to keep them together. Thanks Dave

i've got an 80L tank with 12 girls in it and they're fine together  i find that if you ever want to add more girls, add them when they're young and the established females accept them better  riccia is definitly good - excellent for spawn tanks as i've found out! banana lillies is another good one - males prefer them more to females though i think as they build their nests under the leaves; elodea (tropical variety) is also good  easy to grow and the fish love to hide in it! HTH

I've had lots of female community tanks and never had much of a problem with agression. As others have said I've found the key is lots of places to hide. The only time I ever had a problem was a fish called Ten Tonne Tessie and she was a huge wild-type female pk that would tear anything up in the tank regardless of what species it was. I had to keep her in solitary confinement - personally I just think she was old and crabby
