Green Ohm

Hi all,

We just wanted to share some photos of what we think is one of our nicest fish to date. He's from the metallic blue/green HM spawn we've just finished and we think he is a classic example of why hanging onto the runts and late bloomers isn't such a bad thing.

We've just bred from his brother and a particularly nice steel blue sibling so hopefully more of the same.

Cheers,

Najina and Pat.

Thanks for the comments. Lisa that dorsal is why we included that photo. It is nice and not showing it doesn't do him justice. Like most fish he has faults but its his real life presence that says so much more than any photo can capture. The colour and the shimmer that goes with it when he is flaring is something else but his attitude speaks volomes. He was a fairly ordinary looking betta with unknown sex when we took him out of the grow out tank two weeks ago. He and a few other late bloomers have since sprouted and they are the first OHM's from the spawn. Maybe its not trying to rush them into being adults that helps? Cheers, Pat.

The parents are a Royal Blue HM male from Indrata. He turned up with no tail so we never bothered with a photo and never had one to start with. The mum is the girl in this picture bred by Luckybettas and by far our favourite female. And the green boys brother just bred with a steel blue version of the mum and with some luck the healthy sized looking bunch of eggs he is currently tending too turns into a healthy sized bunch of blue fry

Cheers,

Pat and Najina
