Celeste84
i have a question. does methylene blue stain the fins/scales of light coloured fighters? because my platinum CT girl is showing blue on her anal and dorsal fins, as well as the back near the dorsal. i don't know if it's staining or marbling. if it is staining, does it ever come out/fade? you can kinda see it here, the flash washed it out a fair bit. Callatya
it stains lino, but not fish. On occasion it has stained a slime coat that has been overproduced, but if that were the case she'd be a pretty sky blue all over. To me that looks like the start of marbling or grizzling coming through :cheer:
Robbies Betta
I've never heard of any permanent Meth Blue statining. Like Calla said, it might stain the slime coat, but that's about it. but Bloody hell tho, that snail is AWESOME, the colour is HOT
Celeste84
wow, i'll have to find a nice platinum male to cross her to then, a blue/plat marble would look awesome (she started getting the blue about a month and a half ago) and yeah, that snail was only little when i dosed the tank with meth blue, it and one other the same size got turned blue ;;; all the adult's (2"-3") weren't affected by it though, and a few other small ones weren't either. no idea why just those two turned blue LOL
Fishchick
pastel white and similar are genetically steel blue. hence the blue will start to show in some as they mature. A good white platinum that stays that way is rare. Meth blue will stain dead tissue, so if the fish has a thickened slime coat, dead cells etc it will turn blue. Cheers, J
Celeste84
thanks for that, but i realised after i went to bed, that she had developed the blue on her dorsal/body after all the meth blue was removed from the tank ;; so i'm guessing it's the blue showing through. Celeste84
it's officially not meth blue staining because that tank has been meth blue free for 2 weeks and the blue on her pectoral fin was NOT there yesterday. i have a nice blue/white marble folks i can't wait to see what she ends up like after all the colour changes are done! Celeste84
i don't normally like marble, but i LOVE royal blue and white marbles with no other colour washes so i'm pretty happy with her, only problem is finding a good mate for her LOL
Robbies Betta
yep, when u've got a nice clean dark Royal Blue and white marbled fish, the colour contrast is amazing good luk in finding a mate (although even if u find a BF patterned Royal Blue, you should get Royal Blue marbles, as BF trait is an effect of marble *I'm pretty sure* ) :D
Celeste84
yeah i'd heard the butterfly pattern was a refined marbling pattern too and there are some really nice HM blue/white butterfly's out there but i've decided i'd rather have aussie bred VS imported because they're often just as good (if not better) and you know they can cope with aus LOL however that said, after the new boy off nick1960, i'm not allowed any more males (unless i spawn them and keep the boys) until after we move ;;
charntelle
Her colouring is lovely celeste. I'm a big marble fan, and I think she is a little cutie! Good luck if you do ever get to breed her.
Celeste84
it's so interesting to watch her LOL like the last few days the blue is appearing on her other side in the same pattern near the dorsal, and her ventrals are turning blue too definitly a beautiful little girl i want to breed with a good male :)
