RedDragon
Hi all, Just wondering how everyone determines the sale price for the Bettas they breed? Do you sell different types (CT, HM, OHM, etc) for different amounts? Does the colour / pattern of the fish influence the price? Does the age of the fish influence the price? Bren MacFish
By how desperate I am to get rid of them and cut back on waterchanges but then... I'm only breeding them for fun. I'm desperate now if there's anyone in Melbourne who likes red.
Chuckie
I set the price depending on several factors. One is what other breeders are selling similar fish for. One is what they retail for. One is the quality of the fish itself. One is what I paid to import/purchase the parents. And one is if people are willing to buy several at once (bulk discount). I have sold HMs in bulk to my LFS for $2 each in order to get them off my hands once it was clear that nobody wanted to buy the rest off me, as I desperately needed the space. As a rule of thumb, I would sell quality adult HMs for $15 - $20, pairs for $20 - $40, depending on the quality of the fish, and demand. Obviously a SD sells for less than a HM or OHM. I don't breed CTs.
