Figure_8
I don't know much about koi, but love the way they look in a large pond. One day I will get me that huge out door water feature happening.. How big is this guy?

Chuckie
Generally koi are not viewed from the side. Like bettas are not viewed from the top
Robbies Betta
aaahhhh so the better they look from the top, the pricier they get? sorry just sounds a lil strange, as I've always seen fish from the side :)
Chuckie
that's cool, it's cos they are in tanks As they are a pond fish, they are valued for their appearance from the top, rather than the side. To me they look quite odd from the side, but that's because I am only used to seeing them from above, lol.
Mishy
Nice babies Mango! They coming along quite well.. Sorry to hijack this, but sydneysiders, can you guys point out a koi farm out your way? I want to see what they look like in their 'natural environment'
Phil
Sth Windsor fish Hatchery has quite a large range of koi in outside ponds - they breed them there aswell. Their display ponds have some massive fish in them! :)
Chuckie
the Australian Koi Farm is at Bringelly.
Mango4Jade
When are you coming down? I might be able to take you to some of the breeders I know. They got many types for sale. Since its near the Annual Koi show, they should be upto their final culls, so lots of fish to get rid of. Any particular colours you are after? Mishy
Lilli, I've checked out the Australian Koi farm and it seems a wee bit far for us to get to in one day. We're only up for the weekend. We're staying in Homebush Bay (or so we're thinking). And not really being familiar with Sydney, how far is South Windsor Hatchery? Chuckie
South Windsor Hatchery is probably even further from Homebush than the AKF.
