Nasty Head Wound

Recommended Posts

Hey all

Have finally found some time to take some pics, and I find this fella:

DSC_0085-1.jpg

He's been isolated and Tri-Sulpha added along with rock salt and IAL tea.

He was in the AquaOne Trio tank but the other two occupants look fit and healthy.

He's swimming and eating normally - and looks fine, except for the gaping wound on his head.

Anyone seen this before?

I'm about to head back into research mode...but a heads up if you've seen it before would be most welcome :)

No idea sorry. A few of mine have the baldy patch on top though.

The patch or line on the top of the head is from incomplete masking normally - I've heard it called a skunk line, but this isn't that.

At best he's hurt himself on the fake log I had in the tank with him and lost some of his scales...treatment: isolation, antibiotics and super clean water.

At worst, it's bacterial which could be nasty...treatment: isolation, antibiotics and super clean water.

...so, he's in isolation, being dosed with Tri-Sulpha, and having water changes every second day :)

If the Tri-Sulpha doesn't do it, I have Kanamycin as a back up...

I don't have that many boys from my spawns so I need him to get better...

You know - you're first instinct may be right after all...I took a pic of his brother tonight, who has been in a completely different tank, and who has almost identical markings...

Maybe it's just a horrible looking skunk line after all....

Shall keep treating and watching just in case...
