Sarah
So, I'm sure you all get many ideas from here for the fishroom. I myself have a neverending list of them.... but I don't mind! I have the "if it can fit in your room, you can have it" rule for my tanks. To my lovely parents, they thought this would be one, two.. three tanks max. But what they forgot was, I hold the family high-score of Tetris. So, point of this random thread - what ideas have you gotten? This morning, I was informed I was going to make a wabi Kusa tank. Not suggested, informed! THEN, there was the cichlid tank idea I got from Fishbites ages ago, which has recently resurfaced. Matt gave me the idea of shrimp... and I'm setting up a RCS tank. Along with a NPT. :P
Neffy
I saw the wabi kusa tanks on here awhile ago and had it set in my head id make one as well unfortunetly it turned more into a swamp and i threw it out T_T
kertaz
I got the idea to turn half of my bedroom into a fishroom I just need to get rid of this desk and... Nah, can't get rid of this desk. It holds too many important stuffs ranging from my printer, computer and all random supplies. I might be able to smuggle in 1 to 2 20 - 30L tank inside though. Sarah
Just half your bedroom? COME ON.. think of what you could fit inside!!! Oh wait.. maybe I shouldn't encourage you... nah.... GO FOR IT MAN!
melbournebetta
Hahaha... Sarah you shouldn't indulge wild fantasies here... of all places... One day I'll have a wall that seperates my loungeroom from my dining room, that is all glass.. with one million black lionfish cruising around. And some spunky man will come every fortnight with a blade and jump in to clean it. WANT! But for now, to stop me becoming that crazy fish lady (and to keep my 3x4 meter bedroom in order) I'm only allowed my industrial shelving to keep tanks and things on.... maaaaaaaaaybe I'll expand my individual display tanks on my dresser... but as soon as I remove the "shelving only" rule for fish - I might as well silicone up the walls and get the hose in the room. xness
shadoh
Hmmm... ideas from the forum have lead me to multiple spawns (currently contemplating 4th) and turning my bar room into the local aquarium... Some days I fear logging onto the forum. I am too easily influenced *lol*

fishbites
No it was Wayne. Sorry, you can't take credit for everything Young Grasshopper. That's it! Put him in his place Sarah!!!! I got many evil ideas from this forum... including how to turn a bathroom into a spawning room for Bettas.... how to turn my dining room into a glass cutting room to build tanks.... how to break all the rules and do what works for your fish and not what works for the experts (thanks Lisa for the no clean tank idea).... how to grow live food (now contemplating a large scale brine shrimp hatchery plus a worm farm for white worms and earth worms).... how to get fish from one end of the country to the other.... and how to deprive my car of garage space and fill the garage with tanks instead :)
les
Im with you wayne my garage is no longer a garage its a fish room untill I get one built which I can do as a ten foot square room of insulated panels like Joops got for three grand it comes as a kit and they throw in a door as well HAHAHA I am going Fishing mad Cheers Les
little_troppo
My sister went to holidays so I took her mattress off her bed and put about 4 spawning tanks (need to move when she comes home) on there. I currently have 7 tanks in my room and trying to convince my parents to turn the bath into a 4ft community tank and I want to get another 4 ft tank in my room (when I get a turtle) Edited June 22, 2011 by Harry's Betta

kertaz
Ness: Don't forget to take picture afterwards! Sarah: If my bedroom turned to fish room, I'll have to buy a sleeping bag to sleep at night There was a rather old article where someone turned his cellar into a massive tank which can be viewed through the glasses. The water change needed to be done by him going into the tank for a swim If anyone interested, I'll try to find the link. Might be a good inspiration for your next fish tank? Sarah
Haha, bathtub is a great idea! Go for it! Harry, you could always use the actual tub as a sump? No point putting that water-holder to waste! Kertaz, I've gotten rid of various furniture... unlike other girls my age, I CAN live without two wardrobes (probably helps that I despise shoe/clothes shopping too)! Mum and dad said I had to keep the bed though. They had a sarcastic comment (yet a comment all the same) to downgrading it to a single the other day.... mmmmmm.. :giggle:
kertaz
Haha, one of these days, I will definitely smuggle in a tank into my bedroom. So far, all the fishy businesses are in the living room. Which makes it a messy living room. EDIT: I've had a tank in my bathroom in the past, but decided it wasn't a good idea as the danger of splashing soap, shampoo or other chemical into the tank, so decided to remove it altogether. <_< Edited June 23, 2011 by kertaz
Sarah
Well in the living room, the love of fish can be shared to roomy's/guests/family/random people who are door-knocking, etc. I've decided my wabi Kusa is going to be on the dinner table, when I told mum (note told haha) she was like .. seems nice.. maybe in the Summertime (why? Because she decorates the house due to seasons, warm, cozy things in Winter.. light, airy things in Summer). Anyways, that's where it is going, I got faint interest and she'll love it, even in Winter.

Been painting the new shelf dad made for me (gotta love a handy dad) for the 4ft corner... he even added shelfs so I could fit two more 4fts on it... but I think I'll just go with a bunch of spawnig/small tanks for that. :D
