mumofthehoarde
Hi Everyone, I think I have made a booboo... I have 6 Fancy Guppies arriving next week. I thought I was ready to step up with these beautiful fish. But now I am in a bit of a panic. I was reading a post by someone about how the fancy Bettas she import have been in separated tanks all their life and have no immunity like common Bettas. So I asked her if that was the same for the fancy guppies. She said yes. I had a tank setup which is a divided into two and was going to put one trio on each side. Do you reckon this will be ok? Is it ok to put them into a tank which has had other fish in it but is now empty? What do other people do with their fancy guppies? Thanks Michelle
Bettarazzi
Sterilize the tank and all equipment first so that you start off pretty clean. And make sure you're diligent with water changes and filter maintenance and it should be ok. It's not like they have zero immunity.
KillieOrCory
I wouldn't worry too much, as long as the fish you kept in those tanks before were healthy you'll be OK. Just do a big water change and the tank/s will be ready!
mumofthehoarde
Yes the fish in the tanks were healthy and I have done large water changes. I have a good first aid kit so fingers are crossed for these beautiful fish arriving tomorrow or Wednesday.
