Hello again from Port Douglas!

Happy to find you all here, still!

Congratulations for the new look! It's cool and professional.

I'm back after a long absence. Meanwhile I resigned my job as a nursing home personal assistant after a lumbar sprain and two emergency trips to the hospital with heart attack symptoms (fortunately it wasn't). Anyway I am not looking for another job as I am my husbad's employee, I work for our own fishery consultancy company, mainly on the paper, but waiting for some real assignments. Until then I took fish keeping more seriously. Learned more staff, bought new electronic testers for better control, bought microscope, going to transform the garage into a breeding lab with live cultures from microalgae to macro-invertebrates. I will start these live cultures (tertraselmis, nanocloropsis, rotifers, artemia) after the New year because I will go to Romania for Xmass and New Year and will be no one to maintain them.

So you see, I'm planning serious staff! Would be great if I had a partner to do all these. Anyone interested?

I started with creating a website, which is a pilot, and I think it's quite cool considering I started from knowing nothing about building websites. It's in the form of selfhosted wordpress blog and I will keep adding posts. So I need content! I might ask permission to post some articles or staff from who wants to give it. Of course everithing will be refered and linked to the source, I would not assume ownership for something that's not mine.

If you want to check it out this is my link

Thanks! It's a free wordpress theme called picture perfect. I downloaded it and changed the images in images folder naming my pictures the same as initial ones so I didn't have to change the code. Of course I scaled my pictures first to fit the spaces provided. I'm not sure they are the best pictures but it was just trying to see how changing the template works. And it worked fine. After I swapped the images I uploaded to the public html folder in my site’s file manager.

I do!

The youngest spawn is 3 months old, I'm waiting for warmer days for a new spawn. I have two spawns with fish without ventrals, I suppose I was too lazy or busy to hatch BBS and they probably got too much MW. They look pretty, though I did all sorts of combinations and I didn't get many nice tails. But I have one or too short fins males kind of pink dragon, I've got some yellows with quite short tails, I just jarred them and not sure if the tails will grow bigger but they are 5 months old and some of them quite big body. I will try to take pictures sometime soon.

I don't know what is with short tails because I've got them at the same time from diffrent spawns and none of the parents were plakats! Can it be environmental? I also got butterfly pattern on blue comb tails, black or red band growing from the moment I transfered them in community tank, or maybe it was genetic and that was a coincidence. I think this can be a very interesting aspect- getting different patterns and lengths of fins in different environments.

The only thing with the community tank was a very high hardness that could have affected the pigment. Hardness was something I didn't check, knowing the local water is soft. It is a planted tank and it has drift wood and sand and rocks and some plant soil, etc. and maybe combined with not changing the water very often, a high evaporation rate and just topping up with RO water. Since I bought an electronic conductivity meter and measured a hardness of 30 dH, I keep replacing the water with RO water and trying to slowly reduce the hardness. It's 20 now after a week.

Anyway the thing with the butterfly pattern worth studied!

Cheers!
