  1. This is my first pep spawn they have been out of the log for 2 weeks now. Looks to be about 50 of them.
  2. Soda stream bottle !!! they can be refilled
  3. My new challange is to keep them alive and maybe spawn them.
  4. Well ive been selling alot of these guys to my lfs. The pics are of the next batch to go. And then only about 25 to go.
  5. Hi Well this is my first time ive had rams and the first time ive spawned them. I kept the fry in a 20 litre tank with a sponge filter. Feed egg yolk spray first day after that MW & bbs. Sucked the muck off the bottom of the tank every 3 days & replaced water. Water... PH 6.8 temp 27 nitrIte 0 ammonia 0 thats all i know about the water ( i do use home brew IAL ) Im a big fan of live food. I do have good success at raising fry. The only other chiclids i have is yellow labs & green terrors. I do want other small chiclids problem is ... They have to be low maintenance / handle hotter temps 30 + and can feed them live blackworms etc. So do you have any suggestions ? Im a lazy hobbyist. And dont tell me gold fish :)
  6. Well this lots around 8 weeks old and ready for the lfs.
  7. Well im not into mollies but i had to have them the colour is a nice clean yellow.
  8. How many do you want. The fish are free just have to pay for postage and heat pack.
  9. Wells i have about 180 of them . Death rate im only guessing around 20% in the first 2 weeks . Started with MW BBS then onto chopped blackworms and shaved frozen blood worms. Now on pellets bloodworms black worms.
  10. Yeah its a good sized spawn for my first time at breeding rams. And im not sure there is 151 of them im positive its 151. It takes less time to count them then it does to take a good fish pic.
  11. Yeah we have them up here and they are called neon bluerams. $35.00 each
  12. Well the little suckers are about 10 weeks old and doing very well.
  13. The male is 5 months old. All pics are of the same male.
  14. Well the rams are 3 weeks old now. They are eating chopped blackworms and bbs. I have 151 of them.
  15. Well my bluerams spawned. Fanning the eggs. First day free swimming. 4 days free swimming.
  16. Well my guitars spawned . Ihave 1 male 2 females in a 56 cm long x32cm wide with 9 cm of water. All the fish have spawned in this tank before i did leave the fry in the tank and resulted in 10 fry left (the fastest) out of about 150.They have spawned again but this time in pvc pipes so i guess they do spawn in caves ?But the strange thing is i have 2 nest 1 in each pvc pipe. The pipes are 9cm long x3cm wide both pipes are overloaded with fry. I have no heating but the tank gets the morning sun for about 3hours. the male keeps going from 1 pipe to the next. Well you wont get a pic couse i dont know what to do with the new photobuck or this site
  17. Well my green terrors spawned. I picked up my female last friday well it was spose to be a female!! turns out it was a male and the male i had was a female. So anyway i got a pair. I put the new fish in the tank on friday arvo by saturday night they had spawned. I removed about 100 fry from the main tank and will try to raise them.
  18. Yeah the bay snooks get rather big. The main reason i got them was to get rid of my feeder fish. And yes they really do mean bussiness!!!!!. I love to watch them stalk there prey they change patterns and stand on there head and slowly inch by inch move in on the victim. They are in a 4 footer at the moment as soon as they out grow it i will send them back to my lfs.
  19. Well ive decided to breed something different for me. Electric yellow labs (labidochromis caerleus) I have 6 of them around 3 inches and hopefully i have 1 male and 5 females. I have 2 bay snooks (petenica splendida) But i think i may have 2 males they are about 5 inches so i will have to wait and see over the next few months. And i have 1 male green terror (aequidens rivulatus) hes about 4 inches . I should get the female next week.
  20. I think both need a ballast. MH i think is more in the blue spectrum= leaf production. And HPS is more in the red and orange spectrum= flower. Both let off a lot of heat. And the cost to run them i dont think in the long run it would be worth it.
  21. Years ago i use to be in RANA in brisbane they use them in the ponds to keep mozzies down.(so safe with tadpoles)
  22. Over feeding fry when the swim bladder is forming will give the fry SBD. Feed the fry heaps until you see the first sign of the SB forming then cut right back on the food until the SB has fully formed. Feeding BBS is fine but try and get them onto shaved bloodworms as soon as you can (around 3 weeks) And you will have zero SBD. ITs a mistake alot of people make.
  23. Can you take some pics of the fry? swimming and laying on the bottom? I need to see body shapes and the way they lay on the bottom. Im guessing you may have more then 1 problem. The pics dont have to be perfect.
  24. With the older/ bigger fry can you see there swim bladder ? does it go right to the tail ?. Do they swim head up tail down ?
  25. Yeh they hang around the top for a few days(after they are free swimming) I feed mine egg spay for the first week about day 5 they should take microworms. And at 7 to 10 days they should take BBS.
